600 South Yorkshire police officers are being given real-time mobile access to their records through a BlackBerry-based service developed by Vodafone and Airpoint. It’ll be launched in October and will allow officers to access police records to identify a person, vehicle or location. They’ll also be able to complete forms, reducing the need to return to the police station for paperwork. Each device is password protected and can be remotely disabled if lost or stolen.
