Punxsutawney Phil promises SMS text update on Groundhog Day

Historically the UK has looked to Saint Swithin's day on 15th July for its summer weather forecast. In the USA, Punxsutawney Phil is seen as a reliable predictor of spring. He's the groundhog that lives in Western Pennsylvania (and featured in the film 'Groundhog Day').

This year Punxsutawney Phil is offering a SMS text service. Despite apparently being over 120 years old, he – or perhaps the Groundhog Club president, who understands 'Groundhogese' – will send a text message on 2nd February to advise whether or not there'll be six more weeks of winter weather. Sadly the text service is only available within the USA, not to those of us on this side of the Atlantic.
