RIM acquires video editing service JayCut

Online video editing service JayCut has become part of Research In Motion.

In a blog post, JayCut CEO Jonas Hombert said “After spending time with RIM’s CEO Mike Lazaridis as well as the founders of The Astonishing Tribe, an amazing group of creative individuals that was acquired by RIM in January, I could see that we would fit in well with them. The value proposition for my team and me was simply awesome: we can stay creative and we get to focus solely on developing great video editing tools, which has the potential to be used by many millions of users.”

JayCut is based in Sweden. The RIM announcement follows news that the BlackBerry PlayBook has become the first tablet to receive US government certification for securing and protecting data.
