RIM promises free BlackBerry 10 prototype smartphones for developers

Mobile developers attending the BlackBerry 10 Jam conference in May will be the first to see RIM’s new development tools for its forthcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system. In addition, developer attendees will receive the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha - a prototype smartphone running a modified version of the PlayBook OS.

The new product - which won’t be released to consumers - has been created to help developers design apps for the BlackBerry 10 (formerly called BlackBerry BBX) smartphone form factor.

BlackBerry Jam takes place in Orlando from 1st to 3rd May 2012.
