Samsung has taken advantage of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to announce its new Galaxy S5 smartphone.
The new handset runs Android with a 5.1-inch full HD screen and a 2.5GHz quad-core processor. It includes a 16 megapixel camera with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and what’s claimed to be the world’s fastest autofocus speed (up to 0.3 seconds). In addition, it’s 4G compatible and can ‘bond’ WiFi with a cellular connection for faster downloads.
Other features include a fingerprint scanner and IP67 dust and water resistance.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available globally from April.
JK Shin, President and Head of the IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung, said “With the Galaxy S5, Samsung is going back to basics to focus on delivering the capabilities that matter most to our consumers. Consumers are looking for mobile tools that inspire and support them as they improve their everyday lives. The Galaxy S5 represents an iconic design with essential and useful features to focus on delivering the ultimate smartphone on the market today through people inspired innovation.”
As well as announcing a new smartphone, Samsung has also added to its wearable range with the Samsung Gear Fit. It’s a fitness-focussed device with a curved Super AMOLED display.
