Samsung Electronics has announced the Galaxy Round smartphone, described as “the world’s first curved display smartphone”. The handset has a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a gentle concave curve. It’s being launched with SK Telecom in South Korea; there’s currently no news about availability elsewhere in the world.
Specifications for the Android-powered phone include 4G LTE connectivity, a 2.3GHz quad-core processor and a 13 megapixel camera. It’s 7.9mm thick and weighs 154g.
Some previous Nexus-branded handsets from Samsung featured curved glass on the 'contour display' screen but the Galaxy Round has a display that's curved along the vertical axis.
