Samsung's figures for the fourth quarter of 2009 show a profit of 3.05 trillion Won (£1.63 billion) for its entire business. That's less than the record 3.72 trillion Won profit from Q3 2009 but is a dramatic recovery from its 22 billion Won loss in Q4 2008.
When it comes to mobile phones, the company sold 68.8 million handsets during the three months – up from 53 million in Q4 2008 – giving it a total of 227 million devices shipped in 2009. [PDF figures]
