Samsung rebrands its mobile app store as Samsung Galaxy Apps

Samsung Electronics has replaced its ‘Samsung Apps’ mobile application store with a new online service called Samsung Galaxy Apps. This new app store is targeted specifically at consumers with a Samsung Galaxy mobile device, promising hundreds of exclusive applications alongside non-exclusive apps.

WonPyo Hong, President of the Media Solution Centre at Samsung Electronics, said “At Samsung, we continuously strive to create value for our customers by providing differentiated solutions and services coupled with innovative devices. Samsung Galaxy Apps is an extension of that promise, as it offers our customers exclusive apps to enrich their experience.”

Initially customers will be presented with three sections in the app store: Best Picks (recommended and promoted apps), Top (ranked by popularity) and For Galaxy (which includes exclusive apps and those created using Samsung SDKs as well as recommendations).

The original Samsung Apps store was launched in September 2009.
