Samsung Electronics has announced a new Android-powered premium smartphone called the Galaxy Alpha. The Galaxy Alpha is surrounded by a metal frame and is less than 7mm deep.
There’s a 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720) Super AMOLED display and an option of either an Octa Core processor (Quad 1.8GHz + Quad 1.3GHz) or a quad-core 2.5GHz chip. On the back is a 12 megapixel camera.
It means the Galaxy Alpha is smaller and slimmer than the S5, offering similar power and features but a lower-spec screen and camera.
Rob Orr, Vice President of the IT and Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said “Built with the consumer in mind, the Galaxy Alpha focuses on both beauty and functionality. Combining a stunning metal frame and slim, light weight design with the same powerful hardware and features you’d expect from a flagship Galaxy mobile device, the Galaxy Alpha is perfect for those that want style without compromising on performance.”
Availability is expected at the beginning of September in a choice of colours: black, white, gold, silver and blue.
