Samsung Electronics has sold its 50 millionth 'full touchscreen' mobile phone this month. Around 80% of all those devices were sold this year, with the remainder sold in 2008. The company is expected to exceed its 2009 sales target of 200 million mobile phones, with touchscreen models accounting for approximately 20% of all Samsung mobiles sold worldwide – up from 5% in 2008.
Most of Samsung's touchscreen phones went to Europe where 19 million units were sold, compared with 6.3 million in the USA, 3.4 million in China and 3 million in South Korea. [Press release]
