UK customers can now buy an international data roaming tariff that offers a single rate in more than 50 countries worldwide. The deal, called abroadband, has been set up by the Telekom Austria Group but can be purchased in 27 countries and used in 53 countries.
Data is charged at 59 Euro cents per MB (about 50p/MB), with connection options including a conventional SIM, micro SIM or USB dongle. This means users can save up to 80% compared to conventional roaming tariffs. Prices start from 19.90 Euro for a SIM card with no minimum term.
Usage and charges can be monitored online in real time.
Hannes Ametsreiter, CEO of Telekom Austria Group, said “The Telekom Austria Group provides comprehensive telecommunications solutions tailored to the specific needs of our customers. With ‘abroadband’ we are enabling both business and leisure travelers to be online for the first time at a standard and cheap tariff worldwide. Numerous surveys have demonstrated the crucial role played by mobile living and mobile working. Without Internet access, 50% of Austrian users ‘feel cut off from the outside world’ and consider their communications possibilities as significantly restricted.”
