Social networking is driving mobile internet usage

A third of young adults regularly access Facebook and Twitter from their mobiles – and it’s this interest in social networking that’s driving mobile internet usage. That’s the conclusion of a new report by CCS Insight. It contacted more than 1,000 adults aged between 16 and 35 years old to complete the survey. The company also found that men were twice as likely as women to access the internet through their mobile phone, that young adults expected music and video to be free online… and they’d like the BBC iPlayer to be available on their mobile phones. (There is already a mobile version of the iPlayer available, although it currently only works with a few specific models & networks).
