Ronan Dunne, CEO of Telefónica O2 UK, says he was disappointed with the performance of the O2 network in London earlier this year and has apologised for the problems. In an interview with the Financial Times, Mr Dunne says "it would be wrong to say O2 has failed its customers en masse" but admitted that the demand for data services had been an issue during the second half of 2009, particularly in the London area.

O2 is now working with its infrastructure supplier and handset manufacturers to help it manage data traffic and has also recently announced 200 additional mobile base stations for London.
