Spain threatens to abandon terrestrial mobile TV

Broadband TV News reports that Spain doesn't currently plan to introduce terrestrial mobile TV… and, if demand doesn't increase, it'll allocate the frequencies set aside for mobile TV to other services.

Bernardo Lorenzo, Director General of telecommunications at Spain's Ministry of Industry, is quoted as saying the technological impact for the country of not introducing broadcast mobile TV is “minimal.”

Two years ago the EU said it supported the DVB-H standard for mobile TV broadcasts in Europe.
