Back in July, Vodafone showed that it was serious about ‘machine to machine’ (M2M) communications by creating a service platform to help companies deploy and manage wireless M2M projects. It also mentioned figures from Berg Insight that said global operator revenue for wireless M2M would almost treble in the next four years, from €3 billion in 2008 to €8.9 billion in 2012.
Now it’s time for T-Mobile and Sierra Wireless to join the machine-to-machine party. They’ve announced a Memorandum of Understanding that’ll see them working together to create joint M2M solutions. The two companies will be focussing on Europe, starting with Germany. [Press release]
