Microsoft 'Project Pink' phones become KIN… and they're coming to Vodafone UK

Microsoft 'Windows Mobile' KIN phonesThe much-rumoured Microsoft 'Project Pink' device has been confirmed as two new mobile phones. They're called the KIN ONE and KIN TWO; both are touch-screen handsets with slide out QWERTY keyboards.

KIN ONE is the squarer, smaller phone, while KIN TWO has a larger screen, a larger keyboard and a better (8 megapixel) camera. Other features include social network aggregation, online storage and a Zune music player interface.

Verizon Wireless will be offering the new phones in the USA from next month; Vodafone UK has an exclusive deal to sell the phones in the UK from autumn.

Microsoft is describing KIN as "a new Windows Phone" although it's not expected to run the standard Windows Phone 7 operating system. The phones will be made by Sharp Corporation, who also worked with Danger Incorporated – bought by Microsoft two years ago - to produce the Sidekick/Hiptop.
