Sharp develops 3D HD video camera for mobile phones

Sharp Corporation has developed a camera module for mobile devices that's not just capable of recording 3D video but captures it in high-definition as well. Samples are expected in July, with mass production starting by the end of the year.

The camera module developed by Sharp creates 3D video by using two cameras, each capturing an image in high-definition (720p) resolution – an industry first, the company says. It also plans to produce 3D LCD displays in the future.
