Telefonica to offer direct mobile billing via the Samsung Apps store

Telefónica Digital and Samsung Electronics have announced a global deal that’ll add direct mobile billing to the Samsung Hub and Samsung Apps services.

It means that Telefonica customers will be able to charge the price of apps and other content to their mobile phone bill.

Truphone is now planning to do exactly the same with voice calls and text messages by linking its mobile network with WiFi for even wider coverage.

Skype introduces payments via mobile

Voice over IP service Skype has announced the first countries where customers will be able to use its direct mobile operator billing option. This will let customers pay for Skype credit by charging it to their mobile phone account.

The facility has just been launched in Russia and will soon be enabled in the USA and Canada as well.

BlueVia API platform focuses on mobile payments as Telenor becomes a new partner

International telecoms provider Telenor has become the first network partner to join the BlueVia API platform.

BlueVia, created by Telefónica in 2010, helps developers create apps and web services that take advantage of Telefonica’s network APIs. It’ll now make Telenor APIs available on BlueVia as well, giving developers the ability to reach over 450 million customers.
