UK telecoms regulator Ofcom has published its annual 'Connected Nations' report, analysing the availability of mobile communications and broadband services across the country.

TalkTalk Group, which started life as part of Carphone Warehouse before demerging in 2010, has bought the Tesco broadband and fixed-line voice base from Tesco plc.
This gives it around 75,000 broadband customers and around 20,000 voice customers, which will be transferred to the TalkTalk network.

UK communications regulator Ofcom has confirmed its plans to make more radio spectrum available for mobile broadband services.
Following a recent consultation it now aims to release part of the 700MHz frequency band to mobile network operators.

Vodafone Ireland has signed a joint venture agreement with Irish energy company ESB to provide fibre optic broadband from 2015. It’s a €450 million project that’ll offer speeds of between 200Mbps and 1000 Mbps.
ESB began looking for a ‘fibre-to-the-building’ network partner in September 2012, eventually choosing Vodafone after a competitive tender process.
