Is this the end of the Android patent war?
Patent strategy specialist RPX Corporation says one of its subsidiary companies has bought approximately 4,000 patents from Rockstar Consortium.
Rockstar was formed three years ago to acquire around 6,000 technology patent assets from Nortel.

There was Channel 4’s report about data on second-hand phones not being properly deleted before the handsets were re-sold, there was the latest round of the Smart UK Project and there was Tim Muffett’s story about the mobile-enabled high street on BBC Breakfast this morning.

Cisco and Samsung Electronics have entered into a cross-licence patent agreement that covers the two companies’ existing patents as well as those filed over the next 10 years.
It’s a similar deal to the agreement between Samsung and Google that was announced last month.

But more than half will be carried on WiFi rather than cellular
Cisco’s Visual Networking Index report, which forecasts mobile data traffic for the next four years, anticipates an almost 11-fold increase in global mobile data from 2013 to 2018.
A total of 190 exabytes of data (190 billion gigabytes) is expected to be consumed on mobile devices in 2018; that’s the equivalent of every person on earth streaming a YouTube video clip every day.
