Currys brand to replace Carphone Warehouse name

Dixons, PC World and Team Knowhow also disappear

Technology retailer Dixons Carphone plc is going to rebrand its Currys PC World, Carphone Warehouse, Team Knowhow and Dixons Carphone operations. From October 2021, the Currys name will be used across the business.

Phones 4u in administration: EE, Vodafone and Dixons Carphone all offer roles to retail staff

Dixons Carphone, EE and Vodafone have all offered roles to a number of staff affected by the closure of Phones 4u stores.

Over 5,500 staff worked for the retailer when it went into administration last week.

Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse complete their merger

Dixons Carphone plc starts trading

Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse have confirmed the completion of their merger, which was first announced in May.

The combined Dixons Carphone plc business will employ over 40,000 people in 14 countries, including the Carphone Warehouse, Currys and PC World stores in the UK.

Dixons CEO John Browett joins Apple as head of retail

John Browett, who’d been CEO of Dixons Retail since joining from Tesco in 2007, has been appointed as Apple’s new senior vice president of Retail.

He’ll report directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook.

PC World turned to the Dark Side... now Vodafone signs Yoda for TV advertising

It seems only a couple of months ago that Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, left the fictional Star Wars universe and started working for Currys and PC World. He’d obviously been pursuing the C3PO and R2D2 robots that had appeared in his employer’s TV advertising a year earlier.

Now it’s Vodafone’s turn to borrow from Star Wars.
