Mobile security business OnwardMobility has announced a deal to produce new Android-powered BlackBerry 5G smartphones in the first half of 2021. The devices will be manufactured by FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of Foxconn.

Former mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has signed a deal that’ll see a new Finnish company producing Nokia-branded mobile phones and tablets.

The new company – HMD global – is being granted an exclusive branding and intellectual property licence to create Nokia-branded mobile phones and tablets for the next ten years.

BlackBerry confirms availability of Z3 smartphone this week

New Foxconn-produced handset is targeted at Indonesian market

Slightly later than originally anticipated, BlackBerry has formally launched its BlackBerry Z3 Jakarta Edition smartphone.

It’ll go on sale from Thursday this week at an official price of IDR 2,199,000. (£114).

BlackBerry promises a new flagship QWERTY smartphone by the end of the year

BlackBerry has revealed details of two new smartphones during Mobile World Congress 2014 this week.

The forthcoming BlackBerry Q20, which is due to become available during the second half of this year, will offer a QWERTY keyboard as well as physical buttons for ‘menu’, ‘back’, ‘send’ and ‘end’. There’ll be a trackpad for navigation as well as a 3.5-inch touchscreen.

More hardware partners for Microsoft's Windows Phone

Microsoft says it’s now working with nine new hardware partners on Windows Phone devices: Foxconn, Gionee, Lava/Xolo, Lenovo, LG, Longcheer, JSR, Karbonn and ZTE.

These will join the four current partners, which are HTC, Huawei, Nokia and Samsung.
