Podcast - 3rd December 2014
We begin this week's podcast with updates on two topics we discussed last week: the potential purchase of a UK mobile network by BT - and the crowd-funded Jolla Tablet.
After that we talk about the GSMA's reaction to national roaming, the potential death of the landline, a new threat to Google, management changes and advertising for 4G data.
Mobile ticket and payment specialist Masabi has appointed Brian Zanghi as its Chief Executive Officer and President. He replaces co-founder Ben Whitaker, who will remain with the company as its new Head of Innovation.
Masabi is best known for the mobile ticketing solution it supplies to railways in the UK and the USA.
Podcast - 30th April 2014
We have something for everyone in this week's podcast. There's bad news as Samba Mobile closes, bad news as Apple and Samsung suffer product faults... and bad news as wearable devices are criticised for the poor user experience they offer.
Yet there's plenty of good news as well, including the launch of a new UK mobile payment service.
Mobile ticketing is coming to river buses in London, enabling customers to pay for their trip via any compatible smartphone.
Thames Clippers, which runs boat services that serve around three million commuters and visitors every year, has signed a five-year agreement with London-based Masabi.
Mobile transport ticketing specialist Masabi has developed an all-in-one ticket app for rail operator First Great Western.
Customers can download the mobile application to a compatible smartphone or tablet and buy tickets for use with any UK train operator.
