The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has cleared the potential £12.5 billion sale of EE to BT. A provisional decision was announced in October last year.
It means that the BT/EE merger is now likely to be completed on 29th January.
EE is reported to be discontinuing its Orange and T-Mobile tariffs for new connections and upgrades, according to Mobile News.
Although existing customers can continue with their Orange and T-Mobile deals, they’ll now need to move to an EE tariff if they want to upgrade.
UK telecoms group BT and mobile network operator EE have agreed a takeover deal.
It comes less than two months after the companies entered into exclusive negotiations with each other.
BT Group plc says it’s entered into an exclusivity agreement with Deutsche Telekom and Orange, allowing it to negotiate a possible acquisition of EE’s UK mobile business.
It originally responded to press speculation with a statement last month.
EE’s ‘Orange Wednesdays’ two-for-one cinema ticket deal will end next year.
The offer, which was launched by Orange ten years ago before becoming known as ‘EE Wednesdays’ after Orange and T-Mobile merged, is due to close on 25th February 2015.
