A new report from Counterpoint Research's Market Monitor service shows European smartphone shipments dropping by 12% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022. That's the lowest Q1 total since 2013.

New figures from market research company Strategy Analytics show that Xiaomi shipped more smartphones into Europe in the second quarter of 2021 than any other manufacturer. It achieved a 25.3% European market share, up 67% from the same quarter in 2020.

Smartphone companies OnePlus and Oppo will be working more closely together in the future, according to a forum post by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau. Mr Lau had already been looking after Oppo’s product strategy since last year.

Samsung still ahead
Xiaomi was one of the world's top three smartphone producers in the third quarter of this year; the first time it's ever reached that position. The figures come from technology analyst company Canalys, which puts Huawei in second place and Samsung in the lead.
