Farewell, ST-Ericsson. It didn’t bode well when CEO Didier Lamouche announced his planned departure a couple of weeks ago – and now both STMicroelectronics and Ericsson have confirmed they’ll be splitting the company between them before closing it down.

Didier Lamouche, president and chief executive officer of mobile semiconductor specialist ST-Ericsson has announced his resignation “to pursue other opportunities”.
He’ll remain in his role until the end of the month.

Augmented Reality business Metaio has announced a deal with semiconductor company ST-Ericsson to incorporate Metaio’s AR technology into its hardware platform. They’re planning to create an application processor that can accelerate augmented reality performance for mobile devices.
