Texting driver to be freed from jail

Lord Ahmed, who was jailed for texting while driving on the M1, is being released after serving 16 days of his 12-week sentence. The Court of Appeal has decided to suspend his sentence for 12 months. The case was controversial because Lord Ahmed was involved in a fatal crash minutes after sending text messages in December 2007, although there was no suggestion that he was responsible for causing the crash.
