Juniper Research has calculated there’ll be 722 million mobile business connections worldwide by 2014, a 60% increase from last year. 70% of those devices will be mobile handsets, with embedded broadband connections and broadband ‘dongles’ accounting for many more. The report also echoes the recent Screen Digest prediction that ‘dongle’ sales figures are falling. Juniper Research says they’re losing ground to laptops and netbooks with embedded SIMs; the number of enterprise portable computers with embedded wireless connectivity is expected to grow by more than 300% between 2008 and 2014.
