There'll be 288 million mobile VoIP users worldwide in 2013

Market research firm In-Stat estimates there'll be 288 million mobile VoIP users by the end of 2013.  Over half will be using online mobile VoIP providers, under one-third will utilise mobile VoIP with 3G networks and 11% will be talking via WiMAX/LTE operators. These mobile VoIP applications are expected to generate annual revenue of $35.2 billion (£23.3 billion).

In-Stat analyst Frank Dickson said "The near-term opportunity for mobile VoIP is closely linked with the growing success of dual-mode phones and other WiFi connected devices. However, mobile VoIP still poses a direct threat to operator voice revenue and operators are navigating how to balance new opportunity with the threat."
