Google-owned Motorola Mobility has announced three new additions to its RAZR smartphone family. All support 4G LTE and offer protection against wear and tear by incorporating a Kevlar casing plus Corning Gorilla Glass.
The Motorola RAZR M has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display that’s almost borderless, with the screen appearing to cover the entire front of the phone. It’s equipped with an 8 megapixel camera and will run Android v4.0. An upgrade to ‘Jelly Bean’ v4.1 is planned for the future. The phone is expected to come to the UK but with a slightly different specification to the US version.
Meanwhile the Motorola RAZR and RAZR MAXX HD both have a 4.7-inch display; the ‘MAXX’ specification indicates a particularly long battery life. Motorola Mobility claims it’ll deliver up to 32 hours of performance in average use, offering up to 13 hours of non-stop video playback. UK availability for these hasn’t been confirmed.
Developers in the USA will be able to obtain special editions of the DROID RAZR M and DROID RAZR HD with special software tools to unlock the bootloader and modify the ROM. An unlockable bootloader will also be offered outside the US where retailers and mobile operators allow it to be sold.
