Nokia has announced its first three smartphones based on the new Windows Phone 8.1 mobile operating system. It’s also said a Windows Phone 8.1 update is due to be offered this summer to all Nokia Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8.

The new phones are the Nokia Lumia 630, the Lumia 635 and the Lumia 930.

Top of the range is the Lumia 930, which runs on a 2.2GHz quad-core processor and has a 5-inch screen plus a 20 megapixel camera. It’s priced at $599 SIM-free (£432 incl. VAT) and is expected to roll out globally from June.

Meanwhile, the Nokia Lumia 630 and Nokia Lumia 635 have a much lower price point. They’ll have 4.5-inch screens, with the Lumia 630 available in single SIM and dual-SIM versions. Prices are expected to start from $159+VAT SIM-free.

Stephen Elop, executive vice president of Nokia’s Devices & Services, said “Today we are introducing people to the best of Lumia and the best of Microsoft through three stunning devices based on Windows Phone 8.1. In addition to the new developments from Microsoft, Nokia is delivering people an uncompromised imaging experience, great design and better business phones. We’re also pleased to bring the great developments in Windows Phone 8.1 to the Lumia devices people love today.”
