Tizen gets US network support as Sprint joins up

North American network operator Sprint has announced that it’s joining the Tizen Association, which is the industry consortium dedicated to supporting the Tizen open-source mobile platform. Tizen was revealed in September 2011 as a successor to MeeGo.

Sprint is the first US carrier to be a part of the Tizen Association, which already has NTT DOCOMO, Orange, SK Telecom, Telefónica and Vodafone as members. Fared Adib, Sprint’s vice president of Product, will join the Tizen board of directors.
