Irresponsible mobile phone use when driving has been making the headlines this month, with a new Department for Transport advertising campaign and a train crash in Boston. So all credit to Strategy Analytics for keeping the subject in the news with its latest research report.

Apparently the main reason UK consumers buy hands-free car kits is because of the law prohibiting the use of hands-help phones when driving – and there’s not much difference in user satisfaction between the cheaper and dearer ends of the market. When it comes to features, consumers would like genuinely hands-free control for their hands-free car kits but they struggle to use speech recognition – and they like the concept of streaming music from their phone but don’t want a wireless connection.
