UK police using smartphones to spend more time on the beat
Police officers who use smartphones are spending half-an-hour less per shift in police stations, according to Gary Cairns of the National Policing Improvement Agency. Thirty UK police forces already use smartphones, with most of the UK’s police expected to be using the devices by March 2010. Using smartphones enables access to police databases and also enables officers to be briefed without returning to a police station. [Source: BBC News]
