Orange tried to buy T-Mobile UK, says The Observer

The Observer newspaper says France Telecom-owned Orange has made an offer for the UK T-Mobile business within the last few months, although the offer was turned down. There’s been speculation about the future of T-Mobile UK in recent weeks, with owner Deutsche Telekom writing down the value of the business to £3.3 billion earlier this month.
