After months of speculation following an announcement at Mobile World Congress, Microsoft has confirmed that its Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system will be launched on Monday 11th October 2010. It's holding the Windows Phone 7 Worldwide Launch Event in New York at 3.00pm local time (8pm UK time).
Attendees are promised hands-on demonstrations and a preview of some applications.
