Vodafone’s annual results show group revenue up 15.6% to £41 billion, helped by exchange rates and the acquisition of its Indian business last year, with data revenue up 43.7% to £3 billion. Operating profit was up by 16.7% to £11.8 billion, although voice and messaging revenue have dropped in some of its European businesses. The UK ended March 2009 with 18.7 million customers, 58.5% on prepay tariffs and 41.5% on pay-monthly contracts.
As predicted by some financial analysts, the company also says it’s going to speed up its £1 billion cost reduction programme and now expects to achieve over 65% of this in the 2010 financial year. [Press release]
