Vodafone UK launching femtocells next month

Vodafone is launching coverage-boosting ‘femtocells’ in the UK next month.

The Vodafone Access Gateway plugs into your home broadband connection and boosts indoor coverage, including 3G service. It’s configured to work with your own Vodafone mobiles – not those of your neighbours! – and will either cost a one-off £160 or a monthly payment from £5.

It's notable (but perhaps not surprising) that Vodafone is restricting the service to working with selected mobile numbers, ruling out inadvertent altruism.
