We want mobile TV for the World Cup, says industry group

The Broadcast Mobile Convergence Forum (bmcoforum), an international non-profit organisation that represents a number of mobile manufacturers, service providers and operators, is turning its attention on handset vendors in an attempt to speed up the introduction of DVB-H enabled handsets. A number of its members – although, notably, none of the UK's major operators - have signed a letter that asks vendors to update their product roadmaps with mobile phones that can handle mobile TV. The aim is to have more devices available for the FIFA football world cup in Q2 2010.

All the signatories provide or are planning commercial DVB-H services for Mobile TV. [Press release (pdf)]
