ZTE Corporation says it’ll launch the Mimosa X Android smartphone at Mobile World Congress next week. It’ll be the first device powered by both the NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor and the NVIDIA Icera HSPA+ modem.
The ZTE Mimosa X will run version 4.0 of Android. It’ll have a 960 x 540 pixel touchscreen and a 5 megapixel camera. Other features will include Dolby sound, digital living network alliance (DLNA) compatibility and dual microphones. Retail availability is expected in the second quarter of 2012.
He Shiyou, Executive Vice President and Head of the Terminal Division of ZTE, said “The Tegra processor and Icera modem will play an important part in the development of the mobile handset market, and ZTE has worked closely with NVIDIA to develop the Mimosa X smart phone in time for launch at this major global telecoms industry event. We expect that the Tegra processor will have a big impact on the mainstream mobile communications world in the coming months and years.”
Despite working with NVIDIA on the Mimosa X, ZTE has also emphasised its commitment to an ongoing relationship with rival processor supplier Qualcomm.
