ZTE says it is "more than smartphones"

Announces smart watch and combined hotspot/projector device

The newly-independent ZTE Mobile Devices division has used this week’s International CES electronics show to reveal a range of mobile-related equipment.

New smartphones from the company include the flagship ZTE Grand S II, which offers voice recognition unlocking and voice-activated photography, plus the new quad-core nubia 5S and nubia 5S mini handsets.

However, the company insists that it’s more than just a smartphone manufacturer.

It’s also revealing the ZTE Iconic phablet, which has a 5.7-inch screen and allows two applications to be displayed at the same time. In addition there’s the ZTE Projector Hotspot, which combines a compact projector with a 4G-enabled WiFi hotspot, and the ZTE BlueWatch smart watch with a built-in pedometer.

Finally, there’s the AT&T Wireless Home Base for customers in the USA, which offers ‘fixed-line’ service without the need for installation. Instead, subscribers plug a fixed-line home phone into the SIM-equipped ZTE device for unlimited national calls.

Zeng Xuezhong, Head of the Mobile Devices Division at ZTE, said “ZTE has been developing a portfolio of fantastic consumer electronics on top of the smartphones for which we’ve become well known. This year, we shall be focusing on pairing unique designs with unparalleled technology in order to offer customers the best possible experience at an affordable price.”
