The ZTE Tania - ZTE’s first Windows Phone device for the UK - has been confirmed today. It’s 10.7mm deep and offers a 4.3-inch 800x480 pixel touchscreen on the front with a 5 megapixel camera on the back. Inside is 4GB of storage and a 1GHz processor.
Tania is expected to be the most affordable large-screen Windows Phone on the market and will launched via a number of key channels including Brightpoint, Virgin Media, Go Mobile and another as-yet-unnamed specialist retailer.
Mr Wu Sa, director of mobile device operations at ZTE UK, said “We’re delighted to be working with Microsoft and as a key partner will support the industry forecasted growth on this exciting new platform with both the ZTE Tania and in the future a growing range of devices. Last year, ZTE announced its plans to build market presence with ZTE branded devices with the release of the ZTE Skate, Libra and Tureis. Our first own-brand handset to enter the market in 2012 is the ZTE Tania.”
Research from both IDC and Strategy Analytics last year placed ZTE as the fourth-largest mobile phone vendor in the world.
