Huawei to help plan and manage O2 UK network

Chinese telecoms business Huawei is reported to have won a five-year deal to manage key aspects of O2’s UK network. It’s Huawei’s first major managed services agreement in the UK.

Huawei, which already works with O2’s parent Telefónica in a number of other markets, will manage planning and implementation of the Telefónica UK mobile core network. As part of the agreement, over 100 Telefonica UK staff and contractors will be transferred to work for Huawei’s managed services business.
