Intel has introduced an Android-based tablet that’s specifically designed for education. The Intel Education tablet has front-facing and rear-facing cameras, a stylus, shock-protected screen plus integrated loudspeakers and microphones. It’s described as a ‘reference design’, which suggests other electronics manufacturers many produce their own versions.
This new Intel Education tablet has a 10-inch screen and runs a dual-core Intel Atom processor Z2460. It joins a lower-spec tablet with a 7-inch screen and a single-core processor. An Intel Education Software package includes an eBook reader along with science exploration, data analysis and painting tools. In addition, management software gives teachers or administrators overall control of the technology.
John Galvin, vice president of Intel’s Sales and Marketing Group and general manager of Intel Education. said “Intel remains committed to helping teachers and students achieve better results through the development of complete solutions that span the hardware, software and digital content required for a 21st century learning experience. The tablet we are introducing is one additional step in a 10 year journey.”
