BlackBerry says its BBM instant messaging application will be pre-loaded on the LG G Pro Lite smartphone in certain markets. It’s part of a deal with LG that’s expected to see the app installed on other LG handsets in the future.
Kevin Shin, LG Mobile’s Vice President of Marketing for Asia, the Middle East and CIS countries, said “BBM is widely used throughout the Middle East, Africa and Indonesia where smartphone users tend to engage heavily in social networking. The LG G Pro Lite offers an optimized BBM experience with its large, high quality display and embedded Stylus Pen.”
The LG G Pro Lite was announced in October with initial availability in Latin America followed by Asia, Russia, China, India and the Middle East.
BBM was made available for Android and iOS devices as a free download from October. Support for BBM Voice Calling, BBM Video Calling and BBM Channels is expected to be added to the iOS and Android apps in the next few months.
