Broadband and fixed-line telephone provider TalkTalk – once part of The Carphone Warehouse – is preparing to launch its own mobile phone service on the Vodafone network. It's expected to offer 'pay monthly' voice and mobile broadband tariffs to its customers from the autumn.
Charles Dunstone, Chairman of TalkTalk Group, said "Over the last 5 years, TalkTalk Group has invested over £1 billion to transform the UK broadband and voice market into one of the most vibrant and good value in the world. Our customers tell us that they expect the same value from their mobile services that they’ve come to expect from their home phone and broadband, so that’s what we intend to provide. We’ve chosen Vodafone as our network partner as they have a proven network and a track record of success with their MVNOs."
TalkTalk entered the home phone market in 2003 and the home broadband market in 2006. It currently has 4.2 million broadband customers. The Carphone Warehouse Group, which separated from TalkTalk earlier this year, operates its own virtual network called 'TalkMobile'.
