World's lightest touchscreen mobile phone revealed by modu

modu TThis week modular mobile phone manufacturer modu has introduced the modu T, which has been awarded a Guinness World Record for being the lightest touch phone in the world.

The  modu T has a 2.2-inch touchscreen and runs on Qualcomm's Brew platform with a variety of pre-loaded applications including YouTube, Google Search, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr. It can also be customised with a series of 'fy' modules (modu-fy – get it?) that have additional features and functionalities. There's a 5 megapixel 'camerafy' camera device, a loudspeaker to 'boostify', a QWERTY keyboard to 'textify and an exercise module to 'sportify'.

Full specifications and availability haven't yet been released.

Dov Moran, CEO and founder of modu, said "We have undergone a difficult time in which we have learned, innovated and grew stronger and I truly believe that we are on the right track to becoming a leading company in its field. The mobile industry is considerable in size and is currently undergoing changes which would allow for companies like modu to enter the market and be worthy players in this industry."

The company's next handset is scheduled to be the Android-powered modu W.
