Nokia says Symbian Anna is now ready to download

Symbian Anna, the latest version of the Symbian mobile operating system, is now available for download. Availability will vary from country to country, with the UK confirmed as one of the countries receiving updates today.

The new ‘Anna’ version of Symbian will work with the Nokia N8, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01 and Nokia E7. It includes a new user interface, a portrait-mode QWERTY keyboard, improved maps, better web browsing and stronger security. In addition, Symbian Anna also activates the NFC hardware in the Nokia C7.

Ilari Nurmi, Vice President at Nokia, said “Nokia’s Symbian smartphones are used by millions of people around the world every day, addressing specific consumer needs and providing choices at many price points. Symbian Anna represents a significant update to the experience those users have and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Symbian, which will see up to 10 more phones introduced over the next 12 months, further updates to the user experience and support for the software until at least 2016.”

Symbian Anna can either be downloaded using version 3.1.1 of Nokia’s Ovi Suite on a PC or, depending on markets and operators, over-the-air directly to devices.
