Intel and MasterCard working together on new online shopping initiatives

Intel and MasterCard have announced a partnership that’s designed to create a safer and simpler checkout process for online merchants and consumers. The plan is to enhance the payment options for consumers who are shopping on an Intel-powered ‘ultraportable’ Ultrabook or future generations of Intel-based PCs.

For example, consumers may be able to pay for online purchases by tapping a MasterCard PayPass-enabled card or smart phone against the Intel Identity Protection Technology-enabled NFC reader on an Ultrabook device.

Ed McLaughlin, chief emerging payments officer at MasterCard, said “MasterCard is constantly working to improve the shopping experience for consumers and merchants. The collaboration with Intel will deliver enhanced security and faster checkout - with the convenience of a simple click or tap.”
