World's slimmest smartphone announced by Huawei

This week’s CES show has seen Huawei unveil what it’s described as the world’s slimmest smartphone. The Huawei Ascend P1 S will be 6.68mm thin with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

Also unveiled at CES was the Ascend P1, which is part of the same smartphone series and shares similar specifications but measures a slightly larger 7.69mm.

Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei Device, said “We’re excited to unveil the world’s slimmest smartphone here at CES 2012. The Ascend P1 S demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovating high quality devices that utilize the latest hardware and software technologies.”

The Huawei Ascend P1 and P1S will offer an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. They’ll be available in Europe from April 2012.
